Divide County County Road 17 Regrading and Graveling (3 Phases)
Divide County Road 17 had major safety concerns with stretches of the existing gravel road having design speeds as low as 35 mph. The County requested the 19-mile roadway be split into 3 segments, and grading and graveling be completed to achieve at least a 55-mph design speed. The roadway would also be widened and graveled to eventually achieve 105,500 lbs maximum gross vehicle weight.
Wold Engineering was contracted by the County to provide topo survey data, environmental and cultural clearances, plan development, bid documents as well as right of way acquisition for a project scheduled to be bid in 3 separate phases in three consecutive years. All 3 phases have been designed and bid documents completed.
Wold Engineering also provided construction staking and construction management for the project on behalf of Divide County. Phase 1 was bid in 2019, and was constructed in 2020. Phase Two was bid in 2020 and completed along with Phase 1 in the fall of 2020. Both projects were completed very close to bid price, and have received high praise from the community and the County officials. Phase 3 is ready to bid, and construction is anticipated within the next year.
