Street and Water Improvement District 2021

The City of Bottineau’s water infrastructure has areas of remaining asbestos cement distribution pipe. The City has been working to upgrade those areas to PVC pipe as funds allow. One of those areas was the Newburger’s Addition to Bottineau. This area also had bituminous surfacing that had reached its lifespan, so the City decided to incorporate a water line replacement project with a street resurfacing project. Wold Engineering was contracted by the City to provide survey data, plan development, bid documents as well as assessment information for a project scheduled to be bid in the spring of 2020. Along with the waterline replacement, the City chose to also replace any existing copper water services at the same time, but wanted to limit the amount of existing curb and gutter that would be disturbed by the project. Existing original gate valves and hydrants were also scheduled to be replaced with the project as well as milling off the existing 4 inches of bituminous pavement and replacing with 4 inches of hot bituminous pavement once the waterline portion of the project was completed. Wold Engineering also provided construction staking and construction management for the project on behalf of the City of Bottineau. When the project could not be completed by the completion date due to cold weather, the project was suspended for the winter. The contractor was able to complete all waterline replacement work and prep the streets for pavement prior to freezing temperatures, with the hot bituminous pavement placed in the spring of 2021.
